GALWAY, IRELAND--March 3, 2010--Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland)--Energy companies in the growing biomass sector will be breathing a sigh of relief this week, following a decision by the European Commission (EC) not to enforce regulations on the use of sustainable biomass fuels. The EC has decided to call on member nations to comply voluntarily with guidelines that promote the sustainable use of fuels such as plant and wood biomass, but stops short of actually enforcing them. The EC claims that any attempt to try and enforce biomass guidelines would be too complex and too costly.
